PayPal Credit is a line of credit from Comenity Capital Bank that gives you the flexibility to pay for your purchase now, or pay over time. It's easy to apply and easy to use.

View PayPal Credit terms and conditions.

How is PayPal Credit different from Bill Me Later?

PayPal Credit is simply the new name for Bill Me Later. You will still enjoy all of the benefits of Bill Me Later, including great savings with special financing offers and the ability to buy now and pay over time.

Do I need to do anything to change my Bill Me Later account to a PayPal Credit account?

Not a thing. Your existing Bill Me Later account will automatically transition to a PayPal Credit account. However, to get even more out of your PayPal Credit account, link it to your PayPal account (or sign up for a PayPal account if you don’t have one) and you can manage both of these in one convenient location at PayPal.com.

How can I get PayPal Credit?

Simply log in to PayPal.com and apply for a PayPal Credit account—it takes just a few seconds. Just enter your birth date and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number and accept the terms. Approval takes only seconds. Don’t have a PayPal account? No problem—you can apply for PayPal Credit here.

How does PayPal Credit work with PayPal?

The next time you check out with PayPal, select PayPal Credit as your payment method. A window will appear on your screen asking for your birth date and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. Once you accept the terms, approval takes just seconds; PayPal Credit will then be added to your PayPal account automatically. Have an existing PayPal Credit account? It'll be added to your PayPal account as soon as you complete your purchase.

It's a smart idea to link your PayPal and PayPal Credit accounts—you'll be able to speed through checkout, manage your accounts in one place at PayPal.com, and even pay your PayPal Credit bill with your PayPal balance. You can also keep track of all your purchases. Link now.

I just used PayPal Credit. Now what?

Shortly after your first purchase, you'll receive a welcome email. (If you didn't receive this email, please update your spam filters to accept PayPal Credit messages.) Then, about 10 to 14 days after your purchase ships from a retailer or your travel is ticketed, you'll receive an email notification that your billing statement is available online.

If you haven't already linked your PayPal account with your PayPal Credit account, take a moment to link them now to get the most from PayPal Credit. Here's why:

  • You’ll be able to use PayPal Credit at most places PayPal is accepted.
  • You’ll get 6 months to pay for purchases of $99 or more through PayPal Credit.
  • You can also score deals such as free shipping, valuable discounts, and promotional offers.
  • You can manage both accounts at PayPal.com – pay your bill, see recent activity, set payment reminders, and much more.

If you have linked your accounts, you can log in to PayPal.com at any time to see your purchases and keep track of when your payments are due. Otherwise, you can check your account here.

Do I get promotional financing on all of my PayPal Credit purchases?

Offers will vary depending on where you shop and how much you spend. Thousands of merchants that accept PayPal Credit offer extended payment options. To view a list of current offers, click here.

With these additional offers, you can still take longer than the usual monthly billing cycle to pay for purchases that aren’t eligible for special financing. If you choose to do so, interest will apply.

To help you understand how much time you have to pay, you can view your statement to see promotional financing purchases and payment information. Just log in to your account and click Statements. You can also view this information on your monthly billing statement. For more information about promotional financing offers or your specific promotional purchases, Contact Us.

Bottom line: You're in control with promotional financing from PayPal Credit. Even when your purchases qualify for promotional financing, you can choose to pay your balance in full by the promotion expiration date to avoid interest, or you can take more time (with interest)..

Is there an annual fee to use PayPal Credit?

There is no annual fee for using PayPal Credit.

What is my Annual Percentage Rate (APR)?

The Annual Percentage Rate is 19.99%, although some special offers have a lower promotional APR. The Minimum Interest Charge is $2.00.

Of course, you can choose to pay your entire balance by the payment due date to avoid interest charges. Learn more about the interest rate.

If I pay late, will I be charged a fee?

Yes, we'll charge a late fee for each month that the minimum payment isn't paid by the payment due date. The first time you're late, the amount of the late fee will be the same amount as the missed payment, up to $25. If you're late again, the late fee will be up to $35.

What is my credit line and how can I increase it?

Once you've been approved for an account, Comenity Capital Bank will open a PayPal Credit account with a credit line equal to the amount of your purchase or $250, whichever is greater.

You can continue to use PayPal Credit for purchases. If those purchases cause your outstanding balance to exceed your credit line, we'll evaluate you for a credit line increase. We determine your eligibility for a credit increase by your credit history and customer history with PayPal Credit, along with our Terms and Conditions.

This will happen automatically during checkout, so you don't even need to ask. Best of all, it doesn't slow down your checkout! You won't need to do a thing except enjoy the extra time to pay for your purchases.

What does “subject to credit approval” mean?

PayPal Credit is a credit account that you can use to make purchases. Comenity Capital Bank will review and consider your credit report and other credit-related information before opening your account and establishing your credit line.

Creditworthiness is determined by Comenity Capital Bank. This process happens in a matter of seconds as part of the PayPal Credit checkout process. Once you're a PayPal Credit customer, you can use your credit line to make purchases. If you make a purchase that would cause your outstanding balance to go above your credit line, we'll look at your credit history and history with PayPal Credit to determine instantly whether to increase your credit line.

Do you review my credit report every time I make a purchase?

No. We review your credit report when you apply for PayPal Credit and occasionally when you attempt to increase your credit line. We'll receive periodic updates of your report, but these updates have no impact on your credit score. If we decrease your credit line for any reason, we'll notify you in writing and tell you why.

If you don't pay your balance in full by the promotion expiration date, interest will be calculated from the posting date (which is usually a few days after the purchase date), and will be billed to your account. Minimum purchase requirement may apply.

How do I avoid paying any interest on purchases I make using PayPal Credit's "No Payments + No Interest if Paid in Full By" or "No Interest if Paid in Full By" promotional financing options?

To avoid interest charges, pay your promotional balances in full before the expiration date. The easiest way to track this information is to review the "Active Promotions" section of your online statement, or check the current balance in the "Deferred Interest Summary" section of your paper statement.

Will my funding sources transfer when I start managing my account on PayPal.com?

When you link PayPal Credit to your PayPal account, all credit history will automatically transfer over. The linking process is what will enable statements, transactions, account history and profile information to be displayed on PayPal.com. However, for security reasons, funding sources associated with your PayPal Credit account will not automatically transfer over PayPal.com. You will need to manually establish or update any links from financial institutions (such as your bank accounts) to PayPal Credit. We recognize this poses a minor inconvenience for customers, but for security reasons this information will not automatically transfer.

Can I use PayPal Credit to send money?

Yes! You can now send money with PayPal Credit. It's easy—simply log in to PayPal.com and select the Send Money tab. Enter the recipient's email address or phone number, amount, and transaction type. Billing Disputes

What is a dispute?

If you think your bill is incorrect or if you need more information about a transaction, you must submit a dispute in writing no later than 60 days from the date the billing statement containing the error(s) was mailed to you. Reasons for submitting a dispute can vary. We'll research the dispute on your behalf and contact you with the results. We appreciate your business and are committed to conducting a thorough investigation. We'll respond to your dispute in a timely manner.

Many times, disputed charges are legitimate charges that customers may not recognize or remember. Before disputing a charge, we recommend attempting to resolve the issue with the merchant. You can usually find the merchant's contact information on your bill, your purchase receipt, or the merchant's website. Refunds issued by the merchant typically appear on your account within 30 days. If you aren't able to resolve your dispute with the merchant, you can submit your dispute to PayPal Credit for investigation. Your dispute must be submitted in writing within 60 days from the date the error first appeared on your statement.

How do I dispute a PayPal Credit purchase made with PayPal?

If you used PayPal Credit through your PayPal wallet, you have 2 options for disputing the transaction:

  • Dispute through the Resolution Center on PayPal.com.
  • Dispute directly through PayPal Credit. If you file a dispute through PayPal Credit, the transaction is no longer covered under PayPal Purchase Protection.

If you used PayPal Credit outside of your PayPal Wallet, you can dispute directly through PayPal Credit.

See below for next steps.

Dispute through the Resolution Center on PayPal.com:

You'll need to open a dispute with PayPal within 45 days of the purchase or payment in dispute to initiate the Purchase Protection process. Here are the steps to open a dispute through the Resolution Center:

  • Log in to your PayPal account.
  • Click Resolve a problem in our Resolution Center.
  • Click Dispute a Transaction.
  • Select the item you wish to dispute, click Continue, and follow the rest of the instructions provided to submit your dispute.

If you need to dispute an eBay transaction, you can submit it through PayPal’s Resolution Center as well.

If your PayPal Credit purchase was made through PayPal but isn't showing up on your PayPal account, please reply to this email or call us. When replying, please provide the details of the transaction.

Disputing directly through PayPal Credit:

Please complete our Dispute Investigation Form and send it (along with your supporting documentation) to:

PayPal Credit
PO Box 5018

If you're disputing directly with PayPal Credit, we must receive your letter or completed dispute form no later than 60 days from the date of the billing statement we first billed you for the transaction. You can call Customer Service for information, but notifying us of your dispute by phone or email won't preserve your rights under the Fair Credit Billing Act.

How long will it take to resolve my dispute?

The majority of disputes are resolved within 60 days or less. However, the total dispute processing timeframe may take up to 90 days depending on the specific circumstances of your dispute.

What happens after I submit my dispute?

Once we receive your dispute, we'll send written confirmation that it was received, and we'll begin your investigation. We'll do this within 30 days of receiving your dispute, unless we've already corrected the error.

The disputed amount will continue to appear on your bill, including interest charges, but we won't attempt to collect the disputed amount from you. You're responsible for making payments on any remaining balance owed on your account that isn't in dispute.

We'll notify you if we need additional information from you to process your dispute. Please respond promptly to any requests for additional information.

How can I check the status of my dispute?

We will send you notifications when we receive your dispute and if we need any additional information from you to investigate your dispute. We will also notify you of the outcome of our investigation once it is complete. You can also call Customer Service, for updates during the investigation.

How do I cancel a dispute?

If you’re able to resolve your concerns with the merchant after submitting a dispute to us, you can let us know by calling Customer Service or by sending us an email using the secure email form on the Contact Us page.

How will I be notified when you resolve my dispute?

We'll send written notification of the outcome of your dispute within 90 days of receiving your request. If we resolve the dispute in your favor, we'll remove the charge from your account and you won't have to pay any interest charges related to the disputed amount.

If our investigation determines that the charge is valid, you'll be responsible to pay the disputed amount and any applicable interest charges. The total amount due, including any applicable interest charges, will appear on your monthly billing statement.

Fees vary depending on your sales volume and product you plan to integrate.

What are the benefits to my customers of offering PayPal Credit on my website?

PayPal Credit allows your customers to pay for their purchases without entering credit card numbers or sharing their personal data with you. It's convenient and secure. And best of all, PayPal Credit customers get more time to pay by taking advantage of special financing programs, or by choosing to take extra time on non-promotional purchases and paying a competitive interest rate.

How difficult is it to integrate only PayPal Credit into my website?

It depends on a number of factors, but integrating PayPal Credit does require development resources. If you have a smaller site or don't have development resources, your best bet may be to integrate PayPal Payments Advanced, which already has PayPal Credit integrated in it.

How do I advertise PayPal Credit on my website?

PayPal offers free banner ads that you can place on your website, in emails, and on your eBay store. These banner ads tell your customers that they can get 6 months financing on purchases of $99 or more through PayPal Credit.* And even though your customers get more time to pay, you get paid up front. The ads are free to use, so you don't pay anything beyond what you're already paying for PayPal payment processing. To take advantage of the 6 months financing offer, your customers simply select PayPal Credit as their funding method during checkout.

If you have a PayPal account, you can sign on using the same email address and password you would normally use for PayPal. If you're not using PayPal to accept payments on your website, you'll need to set up a PayPal account with a qualifying PayPal product before you can participate in the PayPal Financing program. To find out which PayPal products qualify, read about Eligibility.

*Applicable for qualifying purchases of $99 or more if paid in full within 6 months. Customers check out with PayPal and use PayPal Credit. PayPal Credit is subject to consumer credit approval, as determined by the lender, Comenity Capital Bank.

What should I do if my customers ask about why their PayPal Credit transaction didn’t go through on my website?

If a customer asks why a PayPal Credit transaction wasn't completed, please refer the customer to PayPal Credit Customer Service at 866-528-3733. Don't suggest reasons why the transaction wasn't completed. Do remind the customer that they can still make the purchase using PayPal with another funding source, like a bank account or credit card.
